Next GBS Meeting Is This Saturday

Just a reminder for everyone that the next GBS meeting is this Saturday 6:00PM at Wired Up Beads in Southlake. I am looking forward to visiting with some of our new friends from last month. We should have a little more time to socialize this month. Remember to bring your beads for the Beads of Courage donation. Me, I am a little heart challenged so I will be bringing some orphans. The rest of you who are a little better at hearts be sure to bring your purple hearts. OK, I have a couple days to practice so maybe I can come up with at least one decent purple heart, maybe.

Donna Felkner will be demoing her new molds. I have her barrel mold and I can honestly say it was well worth the money. It was soooo easy to use. Hopefully she will bring extras to sell. I am thinking I need her ovals "mold on a stick" now.

The Bead Renaissance is coming up soon too so we will be scheduling volunteers to man our booth. It's always fun talking to people who are interested in lampwork.

See you Saturday!

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to let everyone know what a great meeting we had last month. It was nice to see so many new faces, Lenora, Dean, Nora, Mike, Brenda, Debbie, Karen and Beverly. We hope to see all of you again.

The highlight of the meeting had to be Colin Smith from the Beads of Courage program. She was very inspriring and really motivated us as a group to participate in the program and start donating beads. We voted to make this month's challenge beads to be purple hearts to donate along with any orphan beads we may have collected. Also, Terry Porto did a demo for the cutest dog head bead. Thanks again Terry!

As some of you know we have been meeting at Wired Up Beads in Southlake, thanks again Patti! Patti has been generous enough to offer her open house as opportunity to sell our lampwork beads. The proposed date is May 2nd. The goal was to have the time to sell beads before Mother's Day. Please contact Terry Porto at terryporto@yahoo.com if you are interested. The event will be promoted and cards will be sent out. Don't miss this great chance to get your work out there.

Don't forget, this weekend is the Fort Worth Bead Market at Amon Carter in Fort Worth. Some of our members will have booths selling lampwork and finished jewelry. I will be out there along with Donna Johnson of Dancing Light Jewelry and Donna Felkner of CG Beads. Come by and say hello!

Our next meeting will be held on April 18th. We will annouce the place a couple weeks ahead. I hope to see all of you there.

January GBS Meeting

Hey Guys!

We had our first meeting of the New Year on January 17th at Wired Up Beads in Southlake (Thanks Patti!) and introduced the newly elected officers: President–Trudy Jauquet, Vice-President–Donna Johnson, Secretary–Terry Porto and Treasurer–Patricia Scoggins (Yea that’s me). Donna talked about all the great ideas for new programs, suggested speakers and bead challenges. This is exciting, next month, Collin Smith from Beads of Courage is scheduled to visit and explain the Beads of Courage program during the February 21st meeting. Our challenge for February is a green focal, you know for St. Patty’s day. You can use any green which is lucky for me. Kelly green is just not my fav and luckily I found a stashed rod of Mediterranean Olive! And then for a change, this is very cool, we are exchanging our bead challenge beads. So get started on your focals and come and see who’s bead you get. I hope someone else likes Mediterranean Olive.
